I had a story in mind and wrote the lyrics first. Musically I wanted a midtempo American song with a little edge.
I didn’t want it sappy but just a singer taking a hard look back on a lost love.
I have stated, upon the release of my “Single Series”, that the songs I am writing and recording now are just the way I hear them. Influences, styles, they are all purposely not avoided the way I and many writers have in the past! I don’t care! lol! If you listen and say, “Hey that sounds a lot like…” It probably does!  ~JC
