This was strictly an acoustic guitar song at first. I had this vocal melody locked in with a guitar part. After completing the structure of the song, I heard the rest of the production in my head, a building music piece to represent the pain of the lyrics. I’ll call it “pop-Americana” if there is such a thing.
I have stated, upon the release of my “Single Series”, that the songs I am writing and recording now are just the way I hear them. Influences, styles, they are all purposely not avoided the way I and many writers have in the past! I don’t care! lol! If you listen and say, “Hey that sounds a lot like…” It probably does! ~JC
